Techniques Sharon would use include, Multi-head Machine Embroidery, Hand Embroidery, Fabric Manipulation and cutwork. Untraditional fabrics also form a key role in Sharon’s artwork as she frequently uses materials such as leather, PVC and plastics alongside neon threads to create unique pieces of jewellery and soft toys from. Outsider Art, Child Art, Fantasy, Media Culture and modern and traditional textiles influence Sharon’s work. She focuses on issues surrounding innocence in childhood with a particular interest in imaginary friends and comfort toys. Her current artwork has evolved from her interest in soft toys and the friendships children develop with them from childhood. Sharon’s Collection entitled ‘Innocent Chaos’ plays on the idea of the alter-ego character contained in each of our personalities and the mischievous traits we all hold. |
